There aren’t many stories of animals being rescued that end on a happy note. That’s why we’re suckers for stories that have a happy ending, and this one is.

This dog named Shortcake lived a life full of struggles and hardships, but thanks to the New Leash On Life program, she’s living the best life now.

The program is pretty straightforward. Dogs like Shortcake get paired with humans facing incarceration. The dogs then get adopted, and the people who took care of them are given a job.

Shortcake soon got adopted. Her new owners couldn’t be happier as they just lost their dog named Molly to lymphoma. The pittie’s arrival in their lives couldn’t come at a more opportune time.

The Pit Bull came with a ton of medical problems, but fortunately, she’s been able to pull through the surgeries and is on her way to a full recovery.

It’s incredible how a little empathy and love could change someone’s life. The people who all got involved in Shortcake’s rescue have no idea how they truly improved this dog’s life.

Shortcake became New Leash On Life’s ambassador, traveling all over the world, and even getting to watch Jay-Z in one of his famous musical tours!

These days, the pittie enjoys spending time with her new family. Shortcake also became best friends with her sib, and we couldn’t ask for anything better than this incredible life she’s now living.

When humans turn an empathic ear and act on behalf of the many fur babies who need help, the universe steps in to lend a helping hand. We can only wish we could help every single dog in need.

Mad props to the people who led, organized, and participated in the New Leash On Life program. We couldn’t thank you enough. God bless you all, and may you successfully reach more furballs who need help!
